Unique Guest Book Ideas

We all want to look back at a record of who was at our wedding, but the traditional guest book can feel a bit simple for some. Having a record of our guests as an accent piece, or sentimental item in our home is such a wonderful way to remember one of the best days of your life,

Thumbprint Tree: We have all seen the Pinterest boards that show guests putting their thumbs in ink and making a ‘leaf’ on a bare tree, signing directly underneath their print. These are best suited for weddings of 15-50 people, too small and it looks bare, too big and it isn’t going to fit easily on a wall in your house. That is of course just a recommendation, you can make it however big or small you want!

Wood Hearts / Clovers / Flowers: An empty shadow box, some fine point sharpies, and wood cutouts can make a very unique and appealing guest book. This option really depends on the size of the shadow box, you need it to be narrow enough that the pieces won’t fall back behind each other and be hidden, and you will want to know how big the cutouts are and ensure that all of your guests will have a spot in the box. This one is best suited for 25-120 guests, again, this is subjective and the size of the cutouts and shadow box will greatly determine the size wedding it will work for. Just be sure to get a cutout big enough that every guest’s name (or family) will be able to fit.

Canvas: Should you find a beautifully painted canvas, or a picture of you and your fiancé that you love with loads of light colors it can be a beautiful way to memorialize your guests. Using canvas paper will ensure the colors don’t run, and that it ages well. Be sure to find markers in your wedding colors that are made to write on canvas paper. This guest book would be good for up to 175 guests, again dependent on the size of the canvas and the amount of light areas for the markers to pop.

Photo Album: Photo booths are so much fun at weddings so how great would it be for you to have a complete album of all the guests from your wedding? A nice backdrop, some props (optional), polaroid camera, blank scrap book, some crafters tape, and some markers are all it takes to have a unique, fun, and sentimental guest book that you will cherish forever.

Create a Quilt: Buy a bunch of quilt squares in the colors of your wedding, or whatever colors you would like, be sure to buy fabric markers in colors that you can see on the squares. Have each guest sign and write a wish or piece of advice for your marriage on a square. Once the wedding is over you can take each square and sew them together into an incredibly meaningful quilt that you will cherish for the rest of your lives.

Custom Puzzle: Order a blank puzzle, guests can sign the pieces. It’s super simple and you can get any size puzzle you want so there is a wide range in regards to guest counts that will be appropriate.

Jenga Set: Have the guests sign pieces of a Jenga set. There are 54 pieces in a standard Jenga game, so this is good for up to 216 guests if you allow all long sides to be signed.

Engagement Photo Album: Order a photo book online or create your own and your guests can sign on pages filled with your favorite pictures of you and your fiancé before your marriage. Good for any size wedding.

Globe or Map: Any of our travel enthusiasts out there would really enjoy this one. Have a globe or a map available and your guests can sign a place they recommend you visit. It’ll give you great ideas for vacations and a wonderful memento to your wedding day. Globes and maps will have a limit on the number of people that can sign them legibly so factor that in when choosing this option, it will most often be good for up to 75 guests, but again, that varies depending on size of the item.

Guest Book: Of course, the traditional guest book is always a wonderful option for anyone. This is great for any size wedding and takes up very little space in any future homes.

This is not an all inclusive list for every possible guest book idea, but we hope that it is a good starting point to give you some ideas. Whatever you guest book you pick for your wedding, just know that it is wonderful and unique!
